New Orleans Jazz Band Workshop

Adults and Teens

July 1 - August 3

Tuesdays, 6:30 - 8:00 pm

​

This ensemble will explore the roots of jazz in 1920s New Orleans. Instruments typically included are trumpet, clarinet, and trombone in the "front line" and any combination of piano, guitar, banjo, bass, tuba, washboard or drums in the rhythm section. The ensemble will play classic tunes from the early days of jazz, and front line musicians will learn the basics of improvisation in a group.

Participants should have at least two years of experience on one of the instruments listed above.
